Imagine a place where history meets innovation. Established in 2012, the School of Social Sciences encompasses five departments: Political Science, International Relations, Sociology, Psychology, and the Institute of Economics.
Its core disciplines have roots dating back to 1911, marking the inception of the Tsinghua School (Xuetang). The School is committed to promoting social responsibility and a scientific approach, fostering empathy and rationality at the individual level.
The interdisciplinary collaborations among faculty members, many of whom hold Ph.D. degrees with overseas experience, make it a dynamic academic environment. The School provides liberal arts education, and students have the flexibility to take courses from different majors.
Home to renowned figures like Fei Xiaotong, a famous sociologist known for his studies on Chinese peasants, the School provides a unique and scientific perspective to understand China from a multi-disciplinary approach.
Fasten your seatbelts for the global experience! The School encourages international academic exchanges, exemplified by events like the World Peace Forum organized by the International Relations department. Additionally, dual-degree programs with prestigious universities worldwide offer students valuable opportunities.
In terms of student life, the School promotes a healthy study-life balance. Students not only engage in various academic, cultural, sports and volunteer activities, but also have the opportunities for overseas exchange and fieldwork research.
As we wrap up, Dean Peng has a personal invite for you: “Please join this very dynamic, diverse and inclusive school. Be positive, be open-minded, be happy.”
